Jose Maria Academy is an institution which fosters an integral education of its students and so attends to their intellectual human, cultural, social, moral and character formation. This ensures that the student grows in an atmosphere of freedom and responsibility. The student is thus prepared to take his/her place in society, making their contribution through an upright life and competent professional activities. They are also taught the value of hard work and time management and are encouraged to develop their own personality and strive to acquire their own virtues like punctuality, care for their environment and neighbours, good manners, orderliness, tidiness, self-reliance and honesty.
In addition to academic work, which the school purses diligently, students of Jose Maria Academy participate actively in a variety of sports, clubs and societies. Students are encouraged to pariticipate actively in at least one of the sports.
Jose Maria Academy, Enugu, was officially opened in January, 2016 for the 2016/2017 Academic year, having received approval for same, from the Honourable Commissioner for Education.
In January 2021, the board conceived the idea to set up a campus in Awka to run mainly as a boarding school. Basically, the idea was to offer a more robust training to our scholars for wholistic development.
The school in Enugu is located at 39B Umuokoloagu Street, Independence layout, Enugu, Nigeria and has as its motto: Excellence through honest labour. The school in Awka is located at Plot 3, Nimo Street, Awka, Anambra State and has as its motto: …beyond the walls.

Our Educational philosophy is tilted more to NelNoddings Philosophy, “The Ethics of Care” and belief that caring is the foundation of morality. Care comes with the understanding that as students differ, their needs and interests also differ.
In JMA, we respond to these individual needs and interests by our Personalised Education Programme (PEP) ensuring that our classrooms are manageable thus allowing our scholars to feel at ease to express their views, share experiences and discuss difference of opinions.
Due to the uniqueness of our programme and our desire for well rounded development of our scholars, JMA offers boarding, flexi-boarding and flexi-day options to scholars.
